In recent years DEFRA's Rural Payments Agency (RPA) have been building up to a movement away from the old style Basic Payment Scheme offering subsidies for farmers. In it's place they brought in Countryside Stewardship agreements, and more recently they have adapted this to form the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI). This scheme offers land owners and tenant farmers the opportunity to claim payment for sustainable farming practices. The RPA pay in quarterly instalments and the payment amount depends on what the farmer opts to do and how much land they put into the agreement.
There are over 100 options available on the latest round of the SFI scheme, the most common of these being herbal ley payments, soil sampling and low input grassland.
The scheme opens and closes with application windows. If you're interested in applying or just want some more information get in touch with us for a free initial consultation. You can reach us by phone, whatsapp, email or by clicking the 'get in touch' option!
